MS MapleStory Exploits
Included in this concept of cheating is the use of existing bugs (specific flaw) or gameplay aspects unintended by the developers known as exploits in order to give oneself an advantage (unfair) over other players, access hidden content or bypass intended elements of the design of the game. Making use of exploits for one’s personal gain rather than reporting them to the game’s designers, through whatever channels available, is subject to punitive action. Most common is banning the player’s account.
- Use of Bypass
In MMORPGs, a lot of people are keen on finding a bypass for the games they are playing. By "bypass", we refer to the program or method that is used in order to circumvent the security features of a software or a game. It is one way of “hacking” into the game.
All hacks are based on a program that runs at the same time as a game does. In MapleStory, there are three main programs that vary from one another in terms of their usage. These programs are able to stay hidden and undetected by Gameguard.
Gameguard is a program or software attached to MapleStory which prevents a hacker from going in and re-configuring the codes of the game. It will detect outside programs (macros and hacks) that are trying to attach themselves to MapleStory. If it finds any, it automatically closes the game. Gameguard also monitors the Maple files in your directory and checks if any are corrupted or changes have been made. Each time MapleStory is run, Gameguard connects to the internet and load new files from Wizet in order to protect the game from new hacking programs. A bypass is needed to prevent Gameguard from detecting a hacking program.
The following examples are things that a player can do once he is able to bypass the security hack of the game:
- Speed
When you type in a walking speed value, your character will move at a tremendous speed. They move so fast that you are unable to see them at all. It will look like a blur. Also used at Zakum JumpQuest.
- Jump Extension
Your character appears to go in a diagonal upward direction with its legs spread as though jumping. They can use this to fly through the bottoms of platforms and go to areas you cannot normally reach and see without a mini-map.
- No Breath
This affords the character the capability to avoid pausing for breath after it is attacked and hurt. This is also used by players to change channels before they are caught.
- Miss Godmode
When used with the basic hack program, monsters will appear to “MISS” a character all the time. Thieves use this usually without being detected for a while.
- Perfect Godmode
After being hit once on a map, your character will become invulnerable to all monsters and reactors (thorns, spikes, etc.). May be mistaken for the character to be lagging. No sign will appear when they pass a monster -- they just go by it.
- Warp
Your character will suddenly disappear and reappear on the other side of a map. This can be used in any direction and may be used while escaping. This is common during the Zakum JumpQuest.
- Tubi
Your character will be able to pick up many items, simultaneously. Your character can pick up 5 items in the time where you would normally pick up only one item.
- Unlimited Attack (botting)
This will enable your character to keep attacking continuously. For normal players, they are prevented from doing so after 100 attacks until the characters move.
